Project 5: Treasure Island Toys -- Chosen Story

Bertie's Holiday

Bertie the Pirate and his parrott Pecky were very excited getting ready for their summer holiday boat trip. "Lets get packing!" said Pecky, "go and get the suitcase Bertie." Bertie went into his bedroom and crawled under his bed to fetch the suitcase, but it was not there.

"Pecky the suitcase isn't where I left it, have you seen it anywhere?" "No Bertie" said Pecky, "I don't know where it is, but if we don't hurry up and find it we will be late for our boat trip".

"I better get looking then, where could it be?" Bertie looked everywhere, in every cupboard and wardrobe, under every chair and table, in the garage and the loft, but it was no-where to be seen.

"I can't find it anywhere. What are we going to do?" said Bertie worriedly. "We had better think of some other places to look Bertie and quick." So they decided to look everywhere they could think of.

They looked under the Eiffel Tower in Paris. No sign of the suitcase. They bumped into Mr Croak and asked him if he had seen it. "No Bertie I'm sorry" he croaked, "I haven't seen your suitcase, I don't think its in France.

So Bertie and Pecky went to Egypt and searched the pyramids. No sign of the suitcase. There they met an Egyptian mummy and asked if he had seen it. "No I'm sorry" he coughed, "I haven't seen your suitcase, I don't think its in Egypt.

Next Bertie and Pecky searched the Serengeti Plains in Africa. No sign of the suitcase. They came across 'The Lion' during their search and asked if he had seen it. "No Bertie I'm sorry" he purred, "I haven't seen your suitcase. I don't think its in Africa.

So they decided to search the Amazon Jungle. No sign of the suitcase. They found an anaconda snake and asked if she had seen it. "No I'm sorry" she hissed, "I haven't seen your suitcase. I don't think its in South America."

"Oh Pecky this isn't working. It could be anywhere". "I know, but we have to keep trying, we still have time to catch our boat for holiday." said Pecky. "Lets try a little closer to home maybe".

So Bertie and Pecky decided to search London instead where they had recently been on a sight-seeing trip. They searched the houses of parliament and asked the Prime Minister. No sign of the suitcase.

They went Buckingham Palace and asked the Queen. No sign of the suitcase. They went to the Tower of London and asked the guard of the crown jewels. No sign of the suitcase.

"I know" said Bertie, lets go on the London Eye and then we can see all of London and hopefully spot the suitcase." So Bertie and Pecky climbed in a capsule and waited until the reached the very top.

They looked out over all of London, over the Thames river, towards London Bridge, but they couldnt see the suitcase. All of a sudden Pecky started flapping excitedly, and flew straight out of the window. "Pecky! where are you going?!"

Bertie watched Pecky as he flew over London and disappeared into Big Ben. "What is he doing?" Bertie wondered. But just then Pecky appeared, flying back towards Bertie holding, with his beak, the handle of the suitcase.

"Oh Pecky you found it! Well done! Now we need to rush home and pack before we miss our boat." So they hopped on a bus and got home just in time to fill the case and jump into a taxi to take them to the boat for their holiday in the sun.
